The series consists of B&W reprints of American daily and Sunday Tarzan strips: Maxon, Foster, Hogarth, Cardy, Lubbers, Reinman, Barry, Rubimore, Celardo, et al.
Some of the early covers featured colour-touched-up photos of Lex Barker with painted in backgrounds.
Each issue featured a secondary illustrated adventure story
(usually westerns or SF) as well as 1-3 short text stories by authors such as
Mike Moorcock, Eric Hawkesworth, etc.
The occasional fumetti was also featured in the early issues.
Ongoing illustrated adventure titles featured:
Chris Welkin - Planeteer by Winterbotham and Sansom (a curious Terry and the Pirates clone) * Dave Logan and the Lone Vaquero * Arizona Bill * Tobias Blunt - R.N. - Detective of the Seas * Buffalo Bill's - Saga of the West * Sydney Pook cartoons * Amphibus - MKI * Sid Carrow, Sheriff * Heroes Underground (WWIIL) -
The series promoted a readers' Tarzan Club (membership one shilling) and usually devoted the inside front cover to letters and editorials concerning the club.
Members were issued a Tarzan badge, membership card and a special message decoder. A great many feature pages came and went: activities, tricks, magic, hobbies, cartoons, tit-bits, pictorial, Editor's and Uncle Bill's pages were all featured at some time.
A full-page "Novelty Bargains from Ellisdons" ad appeared on the back pages of many of the issues.
Many issues feature photos of film Tarzans - mainly Barker and Scott -
often a two-page centrespread.
