More treasures in the Tarzan room. A fossilized
tree trunk from the Mississippian-Pennsylvanian era (350 million years
ago)
Found by J the V in a road cut near Brazil, Indiana back in 1966. |

My very first copy of Tarzan of the Apes--a
Burt reprint in jacket. My mother located it at a bookdealer who specialized
in mail order but lived in Chicago. We went to his house in the 2100 block
of North Clyborn Street.
My mother and the dealer, a man by the name of Krebs, haggled in his kitchen over the price of the item. He wanted a dollar, she only wanted to pay 50 cents. I just wanted the book and kept thinking, "Mom, just give the guy his dollar and get me the book!" I did get to go home with the book. I don't know what price they finally agreed upon. |

The first Tarzan book I ever owned--a wartime
reprint of The Return of Tarzan.
Shortly after reading Randy's copy of Tarzan of the Apes, my mother found three Tarzan books in a used book store not too far from our house. One of the other two books was Tarzan the Terrible. I don't remember the title of the third book but I'm sure it's still in my collection. |

J the V, JoN, and Denny Miller's old license
plate.
Denny signed the plate and put it in the BB's auction. J the V was the highest bidder! |

Quicky Quiz: Who has the first and who has the acorn? JoN is holding a photostat reproduction of the first edition dust jacket. |

A German Tarzan comic in my collection.
This was a gift from Don Kent. Don and I dated on and off in high school and in college. He collected Amazing Stories and Fantastic pulp magazines. He had thousands of them. His little brother, Clark Kent, collected Donald Duck comics. His older brother Larry was one of J the V's husband's English teachers in high school. |

A Bettie Page jungle play set.
Ed was a fan of Bettie Page. I always tried to find an appropriate "prize" to bring home for him whenever I went out of town. Not sure which Dum-Dum I was attending when I found this gem. |
And even more reprints . . .
