Almost 20 years ago I purchased three hand-made poseable prototype dolls, one of which, Tars Tarkas, was supposed to have been made by a sculptor friend of Bob Clampett back in the pre-WWII days as a model for animation. 

The TARS TARKAS (15" tall) poseable doll has a removable headdress that is probably based on the earliest JCB comic book and newspaper serials.

The JOHN CARTER doll is 12" tall, as is the CARTHORIS doll. 

Carthoris exhibits reddish copper skin, while JC is normal Caucasian.

The Tars Tarkas doll is stunning in its craftsmanship and I'm sure is a one-of-a-kind major ERB collectible. 

The other 2 dolls exhibit craftsmanship as well, but not as sophisticated or as intricate as Tars Tarkas. 

I'm going to put these dolls up on eBay and hope that they sell to a serious ERB collector who will cherish and preserve them for posterity as I have.

I'm 73 now (with 3 heart attacks behind me and a defibrilator in my chest) and my kids have little interest in my ERB collection.  I'm going to try to sell all I have (what a bummer), hopefully before I pass on.
