We have made numerous visits to Oak Park, many of them
during the Dum-Dum and ECOF gatherings there.
Viewing ERB's former residences was always a treat, but
it was also very rewarding to see that
the Oak Park Community still remembers and is proud of
ERB's time and accomplishments while he lived there.
Those memories were originally shared in a large display
sponsored by the
Oak Park Historical Society at PLEASANT HOME

Tarzan, Mars, and the Fertile Mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs
Opened January 2010, Pleasant Home
With the help of the artifact donations from numerous
devoted ERB collectors,
the Historical Society presented a fascinating exhibit
on the life and work of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
Much of the exhibit focused on Burroughs' life while
living with his family in Oak Park.
The exhibit featured a multitude of collectibles and
photographic images of the author, his family,
descriptions of his many residences, and of course, Tarzan,
Jane, and his many exciting creations.
Also featured were Tarzan toys, puzzles, action figures,
lobby cards, and movie stills.
The Burroughs family lived in several Oak Park residences:
821 S. Scoville (rented from 1910-11),
414 Augusta (owned from 1914-17),
700 N. Linden (owned from 1917-18),
and 325 N. Oak Park Ave. (rented from 1918-19).
The Historical Society placed a plaque at his residence
located at 700 N. Linden Ave. in 1999
--the last home the Burroughs family owned while living
in Oak Park.
Some years back the Pleasant Home ERB Tribute was closed.
Many of the artifacts on display were moved to some feature
walls in a
two-storey city museum that would showcase the
multitude of Oak Park pioneers and historical events.
